Jonathan Scott Angus is a Los Angeles–based picture editor whose work spans high-profile original series, features, and documentary storytelling. Raised on the East Coast in Charles Town, West Virginia, Jonathan headed west fueled by a love of television, cinematic storytelling, and a strong desire to avoid cold winters.

Over the course of his career, Jonathan has edited scripted series for major studios and networks including Netflix, Apple TV, CBS, NBC/Universal and Paramount+. His credits include work on acclaimed and globally recognized series such as Ted Lasso, Star Trek, Ransom Canyon, and Limitless, among many others. With a strong background in visual effects editing—Jonathan brings a deep understanding of how visual effects integrate with performance, pacing, and story.  This experience informs his editorial approach, allowing him to anticipate VFX needs early, shape sequences with clarity, and collaborate fluidly across editorial, VFX, and post-production teams.

Early in his career, Jonathan cut his teeth at a top creative marketing agency, where he edited behind-the-scenes documentaries for blockbuster franchises including
The Twilight Saga. He also wrote and edited multiple trailers for Paramount’s Star Trek home entertainment releases—a project that aligned perfectly with his lifelong fascination with science and space. That passion later led him to collaborate with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, editing documentaries that explored the history and future of space exploration.

Jonathan is a member of both the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Motion Picture Editors Guild (IATSE Local 700). He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a Film and Television emphasis from California State University, Los Angeles.

When he’s not in an edit bay or on a production schedule, Jonathan works from his home office in the hills above the Hollywood Bowl. There, he shares his days with his long-time rescue pit bull, Benny—an ever-present companion who keeps him grounded, calm, and occasionally reminds him to step away from the timeline. Jonathan is a passionate advocate for animal rescue and believes that great storytelling, much like great editing, is ultimately about empathy, rhythm, and knowing exactly when to cut.
